Valentines Day in Newcastle

19 February 2016

For valentines day my boyfriend and I decided to have a weekend away in Newcastle. I took lots of photos of our amazing weekend, so I have made this post into a photo diary. We stayed in the Roomzzz Aparthotel in the city centre and had the best time! So, get ready for a long post with lots of pictures! Hopefully this post will make you eager to visit Roomzzz too!

We arrived at the hotel at around 12 o'clock and we were greeted at the door by the receptionist who was really friendly and welcoming. Check in wasn't until 3pm so we left our bags and went for some lunch.

We managed to get a table at the Botanist, which was full of couples enjoying valentines day. I don't think I have ever seen this place when it isn't busy! The food was lovely as always, we shared the deli board, calamari and chips. If you get the deli board I recommend the scotch egg, George wasn't too happy when I ate most of it...

We then had a walk round the shops and we went straight to Fenwicks food hall. I absolutely love it since it has been redone. There was so much food that we could of bought. Even though we just had lunch, going in here made us hungry again! I really want to try the restaurants in the food hall at some point. We tried some tempura mushrooms on the taster counter from the asian restaurant Ko Sai and they were so nice, definitely going to have to give it a try soon. There is also a Mediterranean restaurant called Fuego, which is always packed so it must be good! The food all looks amazing, especially the cakes from the Mason + Rye bakery. We had to get some cakes to take back to the room of course.

We settled for a chocolate fudge brownie and a triple chocolate muffin. Writing this is making me crave the brownie so bad!

The wall of Charbonnel et Walker chocolates is by far my favorite part of the food hall. The champagne truffles are definitely how to win me over!

When we got back to the hotel we checked into our room which was quick and easy. The room was incredible to say the least. It was huge considering there was only us two! We stayed in the 001 Liberty Suite, which is a spacious apartment with a bathroom, bedroom living room and fully equipped kitchen.

As we opened the door of the room there was a large hallway, at the end of which was the bathroom.

Then there was another door to the rest of the apartment. Up a few steps was the bedroom area, which has a king sized bed, dressing table and a TV.

The bed was so comfy!

Round the corner from the bedroom there was the living space with a couch, two arm chairs and a coffee table. This area was so cosy! There is also another TV on the wall.

There is a kitchen area with a breakfast bar and a dining table. We didn't make much use of the kitchen apart from stocking beers and a bottle of bubbly in the fridge!

The bathroom was gorgeous! There is a huge long mirror across the wall with amazing lighting for doing make up. The walk in shower was amazing, it was also a power shower which makes it even better, as there is nothing worse than going to a hotel and the shower basically being a trickle!

Of course a few Valentines Day treats!

We then got ready to go out. Our taxi picked us up at 8:15 to go to Barluga, one of my favourite restaurants in Newcastle so I was really excited!

Top - Topshop
Skirt - All Saints
Shoes - French Connection
Bag - Mulberry

For our starter we shared the tempura king prawns and the chilli calamari. If you ever go to Barluga you have to get the tempura king prawns, they are to die for.

We both ordered the muscles for our main courses. I got them in a white wine sauce and George got a chorizo sauce. You can probably tell that we both love seafood from this post!

The next morning we were both very tired to say the least. So waking up in a cosy king sized bed with a TV on the wall was appreciated! Roomzzz have a grab and go breakfast, you go up to the lobby and fill one of the paper bags and take it back to your room. George sent me up to get the food and he was very happy when I came back with pain au chocolat, croissants, blueberry muffins, fruit and fresh orange and apple juice! So we spent all morning lying in bed, watching TV eating our feast of a breakfast! It was the best morning ever.

.

We then got ready and went for some lunch before we headed home. We ended up in Nudo Sushi Box at the Monument. I love sitting in the window seats here and being nosy! The sushi here tastes so fresh and delicious. Shock, more seafood!

Thank you to Roomzzz hotel for making our stay the best it could be, the receptionist was always happy to help (especially when we called for take away menu's at 2am which she kindly brought to our room). We are already planning or next weekend away at Roomzzz as you just can't beat the stylish apartments for the price.
I can definitely say that I had an incredible valentines day and I can't thank George enough! Good food and good company makes me extremely happy.

How did you spend your valentines day?

Thank you for reading,
